How we use AI
We use AI to do our research consistently, instead of relying on any one person’s taste or brand loyalty. Every product in a category is checked against the same criteria, from the same kinds of sources, in the same way. We then review the findings, apply the rules on this page, and make sure every claim can be traced to a manufacturer, retailer or buyer source. AI helps us stay consistent; it never decides a pick because of a commission.
1. We start with what South Africans can actually buy
We only recommend products that are in stock at South African retailers, with prices in rand. We check prices on a stated date and show that date on the page, because prices and promotions change quickly.
2. We compare on what matters for the category
For an air fryer that means capacity, wattage and basket design. For a power station it means battery capacity (Wh), continuous and surge output (W), switch-over time and battery chemistry. Each guide explains the specs that matter and why.
3. We read what buyers say, carefully
Customer ratings and review counts help us spot reliability problems and patterns. We treat them as a guide to buyer satisfaction, not as our own verdict.
4. We say whether we tested it
Most of our early guides are research-based: we compare specifications, retailer listings, manufacturer information and buyer reviews. When we test a product hands-on, we say so clearly on the page and explain what we measured. We never pretend to have tested something we haven’t.
5. We point you to the best price, even when it pays us nothing
Some retailers pay us commission and many don’t. We show the cheaper option either way. See our affiliate disclosure.
6. We flag what we couldn’t confirm
If a listing contradicts itself or leaves out a spec, we tell you rather than guess.
7. We keep guides up to date
We re-check prices, stock and picks whenever we update a guide, and show the last-checked date.
